An ocean full of hats filled the Botanical Garden of Naples on Thursday morning. Fabulous women dressed in style and wore their favorite hats to the event “Hats in the Garden”. An event held every year to raise funds for the garden. Michael Kors showed his latest collection on the runway, an event that was announced by James A. LaGrippe, chairman of the board on Tuesday morning. At arrival guests were welcomed by a gorgeous flower arrangement, mimosas and appetizers by the Ritz Carlton Naples. Ladies posed in front of the many photographers that captured everyone’s elegance and style through the camera. The event was put together by SLC “Sustaining Leadership Council”.
Nathan Mitchell, a volunteer at the event, shared that he always remembers what Jill Berry, a former employee used to say “Do whatever needs to be done, just be flexible and have a good sense of humor”. And it seemed as if every person working at the event was going through this quote as everyone made sure the attendees had the best experience.
Marissa Hartington, a friend of Michael Kors briefly shared that she had met Mr. Kors almost 30 years ago. Mrs. Hartington bought his second collection ever and ever since; she has never stopped buying from his collections. “He is charismatic and a down to earth person, his designs are like blank canvas, you can change anything on them, they are timeless and ageless, classy yet modern. The power of his brand is world-wide” Marissa says. Marissa Collections started in 1975 and it has been one of one of the top specialty stores in the country.” Michael Kors is an amazing American and he is because of his hard work”
The trumpets played and as 600 people sat around the white long runway on white, beautifully decorated tables the event started promptly at 12:30.
Kelly Burn from NBC2 news welcomed the guests. Raffle ticket winners were announced and some of the gifts included things like a $2,000 gift card for any of Michael Kors’ designs at Marissa Collections.
The runway presented a great variety of designs, colors and shapes. From blazers to swimwear to cocktail dresses and to black formal gowns people applauded when they saw an outfit they now most likely plan on buying. The amazing fashionable and entertaining event came to end as Mr.Kors walked after the parade of models on the runway, his smile and personality was easy to read and it showed that Mrs. Hartington’s words about him were true.
